Staten Island Chapter of the Libertarian Party Forms in First Annual Convention
Staten Island, NY – March 26, 2010 – The Staten Island Libertarian Party was officially formed during its first annual convention, held at 7:30 PM on March 25th, 2010, at Karl’s Klipper, 40 Bay Street, Staten Island.
In attendance were 20 Staten Island residents, including 11 members of the New York State Libertarian Party, who voted unanimously to form an independent chapter of the Libertarian Party for Richmond County, and approved Chapter by-laws.
Chapter officers were elected, including Edward Stehlin, Chairman (Stapleton); Richard Bier, Vice Chairman (Travis); Dave Narby, Secretary (Silver Lake); Brian DeMarzo, Treasurer (Annadale); and Tom Vendittelli, Director of Membership and Fundraising (Meiers Corners). Also discussed were platform development and strategic planning for the November elections.
The Staten Island Libertarian Party is a local chapter of the New York State Libertarian Party, and was created to promote libertarian principles throughout the Island. The Libertarian Party’s core platform is centered around three principles: individual liberty, personal responsibility, and economic freedom.
The Staten Island Libertarian Party is actively seeking new membership, and encourages anyone interested to join them at their next meeting. Meetings are held at 7:30 PM on the second Wednesday of each month, at Karl’s Klipper, 40 Bay St., Staten Island, and are open to the general public.
